The C320 is a single-pole AC and bi-directional DC contactor in the power class up to 1,000 A. It ensures that high loads are switch-off safely and provides reliable protection in the event of a fault in the system.
Typical applications are the use as main contactor in battery management systems of high-voltage vehicle batteries, in charging stations for e-mobility, in battery test benches but also in the DC circuits of inverters of photovoltaic systems.
A very efficient ceramic arc chamber, double-break contacts and high breaking capacity are important features of the new contactor.
166 × 170 × 89 mm are the dimensions for the width, depth and height of the C320K. All air gaps in the contact area were nevertheless generously dimensioned. The rated insulation voltage is 1,800 Volt. The C320 has an efficient ceramic arc chamber.
The C320 can switch-on a current of up to 4,000 A. A PWM controller regulates the coil current, ensures a low bounce switch-on and a low holding power. High contact forces and optimised silver contacts favour the excellent making capacity.
The C320 can handle high short-circuit currents and can switch off a current of up to 750 A at 1,500 V, for example. This high breaking capacity is dimensioned for 60 switching operations.
In the C320K/1000 version, the contactor can carry up to 1,000 A permanently. In addition, the series has a very high short-time current carrying capacity Icw up to a maximum of 5,000 A. These values are achieved by very high contact forces.
The K version of the C320 can reliably isolate high currents and voltages if required, regardless of the direction of the current. These properties are achieved by the special arrangement of blowout magnets and arc chamber, high contact forces and generously dimensioned air gaps in the contact area.
Series C320 contactors are equipped with auxiliary contacts with mirror contact function. The mirror contact function complies with the standard DIN EN 60947-4-1 Annex F. The mirror contact function means that the NC contact of the auxiliary contact must not be closed at the same time as the NO main contact.
The pull-in behaviour is controlled by a PWM controller independent of the coil voltage and temperature applied. This ensures a safe and low-bounce switch-on. In holding mode the PWM controller regulates the coil current. This significantly reduces power consumption and heating. At the same time the reliability of the contactor is increased.
